Design Challenge:
The Inner-City Muslim Action Network (IMAN) is a community-based nonprofit that works for social justice, delivers a range of direct services, and cultivates the arts in urban communities. IMAN grew out of the concerns of a small group of Muslim community members who came together to respond to the pervasive symptoms of poverty and marginalization on Chicago's southwest side.

IMAN seeks to create a restaurant and community center across the street from it’s main offices. The will be an art’s center, culinary school, media rooms, and a roof garden. It seeks to seek LEED certification by using sustainable materials, mechanical systems and overall design strategies. The design should fit into an urban context, connect to Islamic Culture, and present a dynamic, fresh image to attract local residents.

Design Solution:
Concept plans, elevations, and computer models were developed to present the IMAN Center’s vision to raise funds and awareness in the community. Further development and construction will take place as funding goals are achieved in the future.
