Gillespie School

Challenge and Solution

Part of the Chicago Public School’s Capital Improvement Program, this project was completed in 2003. A new diesel generator was installed as a backup to the electrical service. The electrical service was updated and the electrical room expanded.

The existing boiler was replaced with a double staged boiler system, requiring new openings in the existing wall and ramp construction. A new building exhaust system was installed in the existing attic space requiring structural reinforcement and roof work. Doors were replaced in the basement plenum areas with fire-rated assemblies.
